    Refreshing your Approach as a Recruiter

    At times we can all feel a little stale in our work approach and need a refresher to give ourselves an advantage over the competition. Here are a few tips to help you out:

    • Don’t make your workload and your day more difficult than it needs to be. When we have a moment to stop and think there are clear tasks that need to be performed on a daily basis but we get caught up in the phone calls and emails that we lose sight of these tasks and make our day less manageable. Take time to map out your day/week, schedule the tasks that have to happen on a daily/weekly basis into your diary for an allotted time and stick to it, if you put this in your diary on a daily/weekly basis it will eventually become a habit and part of your routine. Don’t be afraid to ignore emails whilst you are working on something else, this will ultimately allow you to perform the task you are working on more efficiently and the email will still be there when you have time to deal with it.
    • Identify tasks you aren’t prioritising. Over time we find ourselves spending the minimum amount of time we need to on tasks we don’t enjoy and focusing on the ones we do. Similar to the previous point, try approaching these tasks by diarising time for those you don’t enjoy and sticking to these set times. When you schedule and spend time on these tasks you may find you enjoy them more than you thought simply because you haven’t been dedicating and allowing enough time for them.
    • Allow time to better yourself. It’s easy to keep going day after day as you are without assessing where you could improve. Take time to research and learn new sales techniques/candidate resourcing etc., there is a wealth of information out there now that is only a few clicks away and will allow you to become better in your role.
    • Knowledge share. Set a time when you can get together with your team and share ideas, collective thinking will allow you to come up with new ideas that can help you stay ahead of your competition. During this time discuss any feedback you have received and how you can work on any areas that have been commented on so you can improve your service overall.
